The question I always get is ‘How can you help me?
Well, it’s more a question of ‘What would you like help with?’
My belief is that you don’t have to be “crazy,” desperate, or on the brink of a meltdown to seek help from a Therapist such as me. At the same time, therapy isn’t usually necessary for every little struggle life throws your way, especially if you have a strong support system of friends and family. So how do you know when it’s time to see someone like me?
You can benefit from emotional and physical therapy at least some point in your life. Sometimes the signs are obvious—but at other times, something may feel slightly off and you can’t figure out what it is. So you carry on as normal, trying to sustain your busy life until it sets in that life has become unmanageable. Before it gets to this point you may need help from a professional such as me.
You may be feeling angry, or sad or otherwise ‘not feeling yourself.’ You might be abusing drugs, alcohol, food or sex to get through the day. Maybe, you’ve lost someone, or something important to you and have a feeling of not being able to carry on. Maybe you have experienced a traumatic experience, or unable to do the things you like to do, which are making you unhappy.
You have taken the most difficult step of looking for a solution to what might be ‘troubling’ you at the moment and I’m pleased that you managed to get here, as you are about to take the first steps to ‘To Take Control of Your Life’. Experiencing Hypnosis does not conflict with any religious belief that you may have, in fact Hypnosis allows you to focus on the mental and the spiritual aspect when you can use whatever belief system you have in the session to give you strength and help heal anything that needs releasing.
If you decide that therapy is worth a try, it doesn’t mean you’re in for a lifetime of “head shrinking.” In fact, a 2001 study in the Journal of Counseling Psychology found that most people feel better within seven to 10 visits. In another study, published in 2006 in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 88 percent of therapy-goers reported improvements after just one session.
